Thirteen people were treated for minor to serious injuries when two vehicles collided on the R45 close to Robertsvlei Road in Franschhoek this morning (Tuesday, 3 June).

According to ER24 paramedic Kurt Maske, the accident occurred around 07:00.

“The injured patients were transported by ER24 and Metro Ambulance Services to various hospitals in the area.

“Franschhoek police, Franschhoek First Responders and all other services were on scene,” Maske said.

He added that as he arrived, two other vehicles were also involved in a minor collison.

No injuries were reported in the second accident.

The scene on the R45 was cleared and re-opened for traffic shortly before 09:00.

Emergency services also responded to a motor vehicle accident on the R301 between Paarl and Wemmershoek shortly after 08:00 on Tuesday morning.
