Citrus takes the spotlight at Boschendal in Franschhoek until the end of July.

The Boschendal Citrus Festival will take place at the Boschendal Farm in Franschhoek until the end of July, offering something fun for the entire family.

“Our farm-wide celebrations bring the quintessential taste of citrus to a range of experiences, from our picnics to our lunch menus, and to our Farm Shop and Homeware Shop, which have a variety of citrus goodies on offer,” said Tamara Bright-Patel, chief marketing officer at Boschendal.

The festival includes citrus-inspired decorations, menus incorporating the crisp flavours of oranges, lemons and mandarins, and a series of winelands experiences designed to inspire a love for authentic winter citrus flavours.

Guests will have the opportunity to participate in a citrus picking experience, with demonstrations on the best way to pick fruit without harming the tree, while a series of specially tailored events aimed at bringing the joy of citrus to every aspect of experiences will be hosted. Wine tastings will feature special citrus and chocolate pairings for a limited time, with locally produced chocolate incorporating citrus picked from Boschendal’s orchards.

The Orchard Citrus Experience will see guests joining the estate’s farming team and experience the zest of the best citrus as they pick and pluck away for only R60 per person and take home a 1kg of citrus for you and your loved ones to enjoy. The 60-minute sessions will be held on Saturdays and Sundays at 11:00 and 13:00 throughout July, and is limited to 30 people oer session.
