The Boschendal Citrus Festival will take place at the Boschendal Farm in Franschhoek until the end of July, offering something fun for the entire family.
“Our farm-wide celebrations bring the quintessential taste of citrus to a range of experiences, from our picnics to our lunch menus, and to our Farm Shop and Homeware Shop, which have a variety of citrus goodies on offer,” said Tamara Bright-Patel, chief marketing officer at Boschendal.
The festival includes citrus-inspired decorations, menus incorporating the crisp flavours of oranges, lemons and mandarins, and a series of winelands experiences designed to inspire a love for authentic winter citrus flavours.
The Orchard Citrus Experience will see guests joining the estate’s farming team and experience the zest of the best citrus as they pick and pluck away for only R60 per person and take home a 1kg of citrus for you and your loved ones to enjoy. The 60-minute sessions will be held on Saturdays and Sundays at 11:00 and 13:00 throughout July, and is limited to 30 people oer session.
On Saturday 23 July at 10:00, Nicky Michell from Fabulous Fynbos will take guests on a creative journey of crafting a wreath with citrus from Boschendal and fynbos from the Cape floral kingdom. The workshop costs R850 per person and includes all flowers and citrus, wreath materials and a welcome drink and pastry.
The Squeeze, Zest and Preserve Workshop with Brenda de Jager from Brenda’s Preserves will be held on Saturday 30 July at 10:00. She will provide tips on how to work with zesty fruits. The cost of R820 per person includes all materials, spices, a gift bag, welcome drink and snack.
