Stellenbosch author shares her journey to self-acceptance

A Stellenbosch author is launching her memoir, “After shades of dark”, on Saturday 29 March.

Using her trauma to inspire others is what young Stellenbosch writer Siphosethu Mtsweni aims to achieve.

She will launch her memoir, After shades of dark, at the Botanical Gardens Café this Saturday (29 March).

After suffering a devastating burn injury at age eight, Mtsweni’s life was dramatically altered. The emotional scars, including insecurities, depression and self-doubt were burdens she never anticipated.

However, Mtsweni has since worked hard to heal through self acceptance and by finding strength through embracing both visible and invisible scars.

Now she is sharing her journey through her book, telling her story as a powerful testament to resilience. She invites all Stellenbosch academics and residents to join her for this special event.

Those attending will have the opportunity to engage with Mtsweni, hear her speak about her journey and gain insight into the powerful themes of self-acceptance, healing and empowerment, which come across so strongly in her book.

The event starts at 12:00 and pre-orders are now open.

• Contact Mtsweni on 066 443 9305 or send an email to siphosethum940@gmail.com for pre-orders and more information.
