Werner Cloete (principal of Calling Academy), Rorisang Ntshokolwana, Liam Louw and Raymond Gwaka who will be travelling to Oxford University.

Oxford University has invited three learners from Calling Academy to visit the historic university in England in August.

This remarkable opportunity is the consequence of a relationship between Calling Academy and the Oxford Day Academy, a high school in California, which will also be part of the visit.

The founder of the Oxford Day Academy, Dr Mallory Dwinal, is pioneering the use of the Oxford Tutorial method of instruction in their school. The purpose of Calling Academy’s visit is to be exposed to the Oxford Tutorial method and to subsequently implement it when returning to Stellenbosch.

Dwinal, along with learners from Oxford Day Academy and instructors from Oxford University, will then visit Calling Academy in October to strengthen the instructional methodology at Calling Academy.

Rorisang Ntshokolwana, Liam Louw and Raymond Gwaka, all in Grade 9, have been selected after a process that included letters of application, character assessments and interviews with a panel. Travelling with their principal, Werner Cloete, they will also visit London after their week in Oxford.
