The Western Cape Government is urging artists to apply for funding.

The provincial Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport has opened its annual call for funding applications for organisations and individuals in the arts and culture sector.

Funding is available in various categories, including cultural tourism, literature, film, language promotion and preservation and the performing arts. The criteria and categories for funding as well as application forms are available online.

“The arts and culture sector plays a crucial role in the Western Cape in creating job opportunities, bringing visitors to our province and growing our local economy,” Ricardo Mackenzie, provincial minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, said. “We have a wealth of talent in our province and we are committed to supporting our local artists and organisations in this sphere to ensure they continue their work.”

Applications for funding close on Monday 9 March at 23:59. Applicants are urged to submit at least 24 to 48 hours before the deadline. Applications received the closing date will not be considered.
