Eligible citizens have until tomorrow (Friday 17 May) to notify the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) they will not be in the area of their voting station on election day (Wednesday 29 May).
In past national and provincial elections a voter could simply arrive at a different voting station from the one at which they were registered to vote. The law has changed and a voter must notify the IEC in advance of their intention to vote at a different voting station.
Voters will be turned away if they have not notified the IEC by the cut-off date.
The Section 24A Notification is only required if the voter wants to vote at a voting station where they are not registered.
Notifications can be submitted to the IEC by visiting www.elections.org.za and using the online Section 24A Notifications portal or by visiting your local IEC office in person on weekdays, and completing and submitting the notification form.
