The sought-after annual Mr & Miss Stellenbosch Pageant is back and will take place at the Stellenbosch Town Hall on Saturday 1 October.
This year the organisers aim to go bigger, better and bolder.
Pageant director Enigma von Hamburg said the pageant is much more than just a beauty pageant or modelling competition.
“It provides a platform and opportunity for each and every contestant to grow,” she related. “They rise above their circumstances and become heroes in their communities in the fight for social change, which is much needed in our communities. The pageant is also a vehicle for educating the communities to respect and show tolerance towards people of diverse sexual orientations and cultural, religious and racial backgrounds.”
The finalists will go through a series of judging rounds, which include a prejudging event, closed-door interviews and, most importantly, finalists will be challenged to start their own social awareness campaigns that shed light on important social issues faced by today’s youth.
A high tea fundraiser event also forms part of one of the pre-events.
