After a two-year hiatus, Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary near McGregor will host the 16th annual Giant Winter Book Fair at the Oos Kerk Hall in Robertson from Thursday 16 to Saturday 18 June. A warm invitation is extended to all book worms and bargain hunters to join the special event, which will raise much needed funds and create a better life for the donkeys through the sale of some 14 000 books. There will be brand-new and pristine pre-owned books as well as collectable books, including 100-year old classics and first editions. Those attending will have their choice of current novels, travel, cookery, art, gardening, psychology and lifestyle books abound, biographies and a good selection of children’s titles. The sanctuary is a home and safe haven for previously abused and retired donkeys, and boasts the multi-talented David Kramer as its patron. The muso recently composed and recorded a special song, “Donkiehemel”, to create awareness of the plight of working donkeys as well as the welfare work that takes place at Eseltjiesrus. The fair will run from 09:30 to 16:30 daily. Enquiries: 023 625 1593 or [email protected].
