The Lilliput Children’s Theatre Company will be premiering a brand new show, Hansel and Gretel at the Nassau Theatre from 16 – 21 December.
This magical fairytale takes place in the forest during Christmas time, where a poor woodcutter lives with his wife and two children. They decide to send their children away because they cannot afford to keep them. Hansel and Gretel decide to run away instead and get lost in the forest and stumble across a house made of sweets. Inside lives an evil old lady who makes them do all the housework. Eventually they manage to find their way home. There is a happy ending and a Christmas party for Hansel and Gretel.
After each show Father Christmas will be handing out sweets to all of the children. Parents are asked to please bring a present or a second-hand toy for an underprivileged child to put under Santa’s Christmas tree. These will be distributed to children’s homes, safe houses and hospitals before Christmas Eve.
Hansel and Gretel is adapted and directed by Elton John Duffy, who has been producing children’s theatre and delighting audiences for the past 26 years.
Tickets are R90 at any Computicket or online or at any Shoprite or Checkers store. For info, visit www.lilliputplayers.co.za. For school block bookings, call Elton on 083 364 8284 or 021 558 2650 or email lilliputtheatre@gmail.com.
