The Burnley Football Club of Jamestown made history this month by winning the recent Stellenbosch Local Football Association Top 8 competition. The competition was held at the Jamestown sports grounds. The two local teams came to a head with Burnley FC playing the derby against Jamestown AFC on Wednesday evening (2 October) in the quarter-final which they won 1-0. The semi-finals and final were played on Saturday 12 October where Burnley FC played against Lokxion Stars FC, and won 3-2, and came up against Nelsons FC in the final. They beat the visitors 3-1.
