Rayhaan Fredericks, a Grade 10 learner at Calling Academy in Stellenbosch, was one of two finalists representing the Western Cape at the thrilling finals of The IIE’s Varsity College fifth annual National High Schools Quiz at the institution’s Waterfall-Midrand campus on Saturday 14 October.
This year’s contest attracted 400 Grade 9 to 11 learners from across the country.
While Fredericks was not placed in the top three, his Western Cape teammate, Mia Rothuysen from Reddam House in Durbanville, claimed second place.
The quiz was won by Michael Brown of Grace College in KwaZulu-Natal.
