TABLE VIEW, CAPE TOWN – The Western Cape’s premier automotive celebration is set to roar back into action on Sunday 2 November, as the Killarney Motor Show returns for its eighth edition, promising the most ambitious programme yet for motor enthusiasts and families alike.
Organised by the Western Province Motor Club (WPMC) in partnership with the City of Cape Town, and presented in association with Smile 90.4 FM, the single-day spectacular will transform the iconic Killarney Raceway into an automotive wonderland.

Record-breaking numbers
Building on last year’s success, which drew more than 12 000 visitors and featured 2 000 exhibitors and vendors, this year’s event is poised to be the largest yet.
The show, which contributes approximately R10 million to the local economy and creates around 1 500 jobs, according to WPMC executive manager Des Easom, has become a cornerstone of Cape Town’s events calendar since its inception in 2016.
“What started as a concept from the old classic car show in Panorama has just grown and grown,” said Easom at the media launch last week. “The show is inclusive; it brings all car clubs over the Cape, guys that normally won’t interact because their car interests are so different, together at one location.”

Adrenaline-fuelled entertainment
WPMC public relations officer Dave Abrahams said the show features something for everyone. “It is big and diverse, with cars from yesterday, today and tomorrow, but also more than just cars.”
The day’s programme boasts an extraordinary array of high-octane activities across multiple zones.
The High-Speed Zone will host model aeroplane flying displays, high-speed passenger rides with Tracktion and E36 Cup cars, drift demonstrations and gymkhana displays.
Thrill seekers can experience the circuit from the passenger seat, though participants must be over 16 and wear appropriate safety gear, including long trousers, long-sleeved tops and closed shoes.

Show and shine spectacular
Motor enthusiasts will feast their eyes on an extensive showcase of automotive excellence, from cutting-edge motorcars and bakkies to classic vintage vehicles, race cars and exotic marques including Porsche, Jaguar, and Alfa Romeo. Competition categories include the prestigious Show and Shine contest, Stance competition and the highly anticipated AC Cobra Concours.
The event will feature over 2 000 displays spanning the latest automotive innovations, accessories and specialist services, creating a comprehensive marketplace for industry professionals and hobbyists alike.

Family-friendly festival
Recognising its role as a community celebration, organisers have curated extensive family entertainment. The Kiddies’ Corner in the Old Pit Complex offers jumping castles, pedal karts, jungle gyms and obstacle courses, while the main Fun Fair operates throughout the day.
Cultural performances add vibrancy to the mechanical displays, with the Du Noon Cultural Dance Group, Zulu dancers and spectacular perch pole artists entertaining crowds between automotive demonstrations.
A dedicated karting circuit allows families to race on the 1,1 km track, while BMX and skateboarding demonstrations at the Monster Energy Rig cater to younger adrenaline enthusiasts.

Seamless access and amenities
Addressing previous concerns about traffic congestion, organisers have implemented a comprehensive transport strategy.
A complimentary MyCiti shuttle service will operate from Bayside Centre between 08:00 and 18:00, where visitors can park for just R35 for the entire day before boarding shuttles – free on presentation of their Motor Show tickets – directly to Gate 2.
The Park and Ride service not only eases traffic, but provides additional perks for those using service. Each will receive raffle tickets for complimentary Monster Energy drinks and entries into lucky draws for drift experiences on either the High-Speed Zone or the exclusive Tracktion Drift Arena.
Limited complimentary parking is available on-site at the race track, with dedicated disabled parking at Gate 4. A convenient drop-off zone at Sartie Road provides alternative access via Gate 3.
Sixty-one food outlets and nine beverage stations ensure visitors remain well-fed throughout the day.
For those seeking premium comfort, two VIP hospitality lounges provide dedicated parking, complimentary refreshments, relaxation areas and exclusive facilities for R1 500 per person.
