Gear-up for a magical open-air, picnic-style evening and delight in the enchanting sounds of the celebrated South African electric cellist, Carol Thorns. Watch her perform within her iconic bubble at the picturesque La Roche Estate in Franschhoek on Wednesday 27 September from 17:30 until 20:00.
Thorn’s captivating performance style and innovative musical concepts have led her to open for artists such as Vanessa Mae and Elton John. As a sought-after performer she has graced stages at prestigious events across SA, Europe and the UAE. Her portfolio, under Red Cello Productions, boasts show-stopping acts such as The Bubble, Rosanthorn Trio, CODA Africa, and The Galaxy Dress. Her debut album was nominated for the Best Instrumental Album at the SAMA’s. Moreover, her latest cello album, “Sanctuary,” is now available on all streaming platforms.
Each ticket includes a complimentary welcome drink and a snack. Children are heartily welcomed, and entertainment for them will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own picnic baskets, blankets, and chairs.
It’s worth noting that all proceeds from this event will benefit the Country Kids Playschool in Franschhoek. Thorns shares: “I am performing for Country Kids because it’s where our daughter, Emily, attended from ages 2 to 4. This school introduced us to wonderful friends who remain a significant part of our lives. It provided Emily with a nurturing and supportive foundation for her future education. This performance is my tribute to the power of connection, community, and kindness.”
