The choirs from 22 schools are busy with preparations for the 2024 e’Bosch School Choir Festival, the largest gathering of learners from the Stellenbosch and Franschhoek area.

Around 600 learners from four high schools and 18 primary schools are already working hard preparing for the festival. Funded by Remgro, this year’s festival will be held at the Stellenbosch Town Hall on Friday 13 September at 18:00.

Tickets will be available at the door at R20 each.

This year will be a celebration of the immense work done by teachers in preparing learners to reach a musical standard of note. Come next Friday, Cloetesville, Lückhoff, Stellenzicht and Makapula high schools will start the programme.

The second half of the programme will see the local primary schools showcase their talents.

Cloetesville, St Pauls, St Idas, Rietenbosch, Pieter Langeveldt, Ikhaya, AF Louw, JJ Rhode, Klapmuts, Dalubuhle, Joostenberg, St Vincent, Simondium, Devon Valley, Raithby, Weber Gedenk and Idas Valley primary schools will be hitting the right notes along with the Dorothea Special School.

The Stellenbosch University Brass Ensemble, under the direction of Pamela Kierman, will take to the stage as well. They will accompany the choir item which e’Bosch has commissioned from local composer, conductor, and lecturer, Xander Kritzinger. He has composed a work titled “The United Light” which is the official e’Bosch theme song and will be sung at every edition of this festival.

The South African national anthem and “The United Light” will be conducted by project manager of the festival, John Frans.

The programme will end with the singing of “United Light”.
