These two Khayamandi residents, Julia and Andiswa Mokoena, are doing their bit for Mother Earth, tapping into their creative side to create colourful pot plant holders using plastic shopping bags – some of which are also recycled. The duo of “There is Life Here in Khayamandi” showcased their crocheted works at the Earth Day 2024 celebration at the CoCreate Hub in Stellenbosch on Monday (22 April). The handmade products are, in turn, sold to fund a soup kitchen that feeds children and the elderly from the township three times a week.
