During Garden Town Stellenbosch 2024, Weltevreden 1692 Gardens and Bertha Vineyards will showcase a unique sculpture collection that celebrates Chapters.
The sculpture exhibition will officially launch on Wednesday 30 October. The historic estate is home to remarkable works by artistic icons, including Francis Bacon, Christo Coetzee, Charles Goddard and Walter Battis.
This exhibition highlights the sculptures of Ruhan Janse van Vuuren, one of South Africa’s most talented sculptors known for his iconic 9 m bronze statue of Nelson Mandela, created alongside André Prinsloo. Over the past 14 years more than 175 of Janse van Vuuren’s masterpieces have become permanent installations that harmoniously blend with the estate’s gardens and vineyards.
Guests will explore a self-guided sculpture and music tour around the vineyards and gardens, taste the estate wines at the top of the Bertha Vineyards (weather permitting) and enjoy time in nature, accompanied by Bertha’s finest music selections across many genres.
Guests must have their own earphones and be able to connect to the playlist on either Apple Music or Spotify.
Dogs on leash are welcome. The doors open at 14:30 and guests can start the self guided tour at any time between 15:00 and 18:00.
