As part of Youth Day celebration last Thursday (16 June), e’Bosch held a craft expo to empower young people with craft skills.
“The Youth Day programme at De Laer Venue included a group performance of the United Light e’Bosch song and artists such as Clayton Apollis, Lucian de Koker, Jeandre Bostander and Lee-ron Maart, the Khayamandi Traditional Dance Group under directorship of Siyabonga Mini, Roswil, and Granville Carlson.
All the performances spoke to a future desirable identity that Granville best caught with his performance of daydreaming,” said Dr Sias Mostert from e’Bosch.
Youth Day participants included the programme organisers of the dorpies of Ida’s Valley, Khayamandi, Wemmershoek, Raithby, Klapmuts, Vlottenburg, Jamestown, Stellenbosch Central and Cloetesville.
Skills were taught to participants, with the aim to transfer these skills to school children and other youths in future. Expert crafter Doreen Hayes provided training in crafts to those in attendance.
“The stations each empowered the more than 45 participants with skills that can be transferred to children,” Mostert added.
Mostert says 11 dorpies of Stellenbosch will participate in facilitating constructive free-time activities during the June and July school holidays from Monday 27 June 2022 to Friday 15 July.
