The bi-annual Kamers Makers event, the country’s largest retail pop-up phenomenon, has begun at Blaauwklippen Wine Farm in Stellenbosch.
The popular pop-up will run until Sunday 27 October.
With something for everyone, Blaauwklippen will add to the market of crafting wonders with the launch of its Crochet Corner, also fondly referred to as the Hekel Hoekie. Situated at the Blaauwklippen Bike Park, crocheting and knitting enthusiasts are invited to crochet or knit a square for a cause.
The wool and relevant hooks or needles will be supplied, and all guests need to provide is their skills and time.
Participants can enjoy a glass of wine and something to eat while doing what they love. The goal is to collect at least 80 squares by the end of the week, which will be enough to make up a comfy knee blanket for an adult or cosy cuddler for a child.
The project doesn’t stop when Kamers Makers ends, though; it will become an additional offering for all visitors to the estate. Eager learners of the art of crocheting are also welcome to join on the official launch of the Hekel Hoekie on Friday 25 October.
