Trail runners can now diarise Dirtopia’s monthly trail run events taking place on wine farms near Stellenbosch, as the six Sunday morning events until the end of 2022 can earn you points and prizes.
Points are awarded to all finishers and at the end of the Sportsmans Warehouse series prizes will be awarded the top finishers in various categories. Your ranking is displayed live on trailtag.co.za so make sure you buy or rent a Trail Tag and enter all of them
And just for fun, the ever-popular 30 October Halloween Forest Night Run will again be at Muratie for costume wearing fun runners.
The first event of the series is around the corner with entries open onine for the Winter Trail Run taking place at L’Avenir Wine Estate on the 10 of July.
The short 6 km route is designed for newcomers with jeep track between vineyards and orchards and some fun singletrack sections. The fast longer 12 km course also touches a neighbouring farm with a beautiful single-track section in the forest before heading back the finish at the cellar.
Registration starts from 07:45, with the long route starting 08:45 and the short route 09:00. Pre-entries can be done online at www.dirtpass.co.za with a R140 entry fee for the 6 km and 11 km R170, while children under 18 cost R60 online. Please note late entries will be at an additional fee.
The refreshment station on both routes will have Powerade, fruit and cold water with a cup of Coke at the finish for all! A medal will be handed over to each one crossing the finish line arch. Stay for the prize giving & lucky draw around 10:45 and stand a chance to win some great product prizes from FALKE, gift vouchers from Sportsman’s Warehouse and the outstanding L’Avenir Wine!
Relax on the lawns at the dam after the event and perhaps sip some of the Estate’s Cap Classique. Ultimate Performance Therapy will be at the finish for a relaxing massage, and bookings are also taken in advance. Gear up and warm up on the trails!
The signature of all Dirtopia events is the single-track that their trail team have developed in the Simonsberg area. Go where no vehicles drive and get close to nature.
