Local mountain-biking team Fairtree DP World Cannondale was in fine form at the Darling Brew Extreme 70 km race at the weekend, with two of its riders finishing in the top two positions in the men’s elite category. Luyanda Tobigunya (centre) was the pick of the riders, crossing the line in first place with a time of 2:39:25. He was closely followed by teammate Kusaselihle Ngidi (left), who recorded a time of 2:39:26 to end second. Ruan Portwig (right) placed third. The Stellenbosch based team had one more rider in the top 10, with Ethan Michaels coming in seventh place in a time of 2:50:12. The other participating riders of the team were Kwazi Mbhamali (23rd), Thembela Lukalo (73rd), Yomelela Mfazwe (119th) and Winile Majavu (125th). “The team is going from strength to strength and the younger riders are really starting to perform,” said manager Chris Norton. “We are excited to see the progress and look forward to some great results in upcoming events.”
