WEDNESDAY 12 JUNE
Stellenbosch: The St Olaf Choir, an a cappella ensemble from Minnesota in the US, will perform at the Endler Hall at 19:00. Comprising 75 mixed voices, the choir is hailed as one of the US’s premier a cappella ensembles, renowned for its artistry and beauty of sound. The acclaimed choir, under the baton of its renowned conductor Dr Anton Armstrong, will dazzle South African audiences during their first tour of the country, with eight concerts and numerous choir collaborations and workshops. Stellenbosch: Die Stellenbosch-tak van die Vroue Landbouvereniging Kaapland (VLVK) nooi alle belangstellende vroue saam na ’n besoek aan die Voorgelegen-museum om 09:30 by Dorpstraat 116. Belangstellendes is ook welkom om die vergadering direk ná die uitstappie by te woon en meer uit te vind oor die werksaamhede van hierdie vereniging wat reeds amper ’n eeu bestaan. Stellenbosch pronk met die enigste tekstielmuseum in die land. Die VLVK is ’n vroue-organisasie wat aan sy lede die geleentheid vir persoonlike groei en diens aan die gemeenskap bied. Cloetesville: Die Black Pumas-netbalklub bied om 12:00 ’n pretdag en toernooi vir die jeug by die Cloetesville-sportterrein aan. Spanne van Athlone en Macassar het reeds hul deelname bevestig, en ander plaaslike netbalklubs word genooi om in te skryf. Die gemeenskap word ook genooi om die geleentheid te ondersteun. SATURDAY 13 JULY
Stellenbosch: The award-winning global collaborative embroidery project, The Red Dress, will be on exhibition at iThemba Stellenbosch CraftArt Gallery in Noordwal-Wes Road from 10:00 to 18:00. Conceived by British artist Kirstie Macloed, the 14-year project comprises a garment that provided an artistic platform for people around the world, many from impoverished communities, to tell their stories through embroidery. The exhibition will also honour the embroidery created by the late Khayamandi resident Noayini Nogemane, supported by textile label Missibaba in 2010. There will be live music and textile crafts from the Stellenbosch community as well as The Red Dress with accompanying documentation, video and photographs.
