Stellenbosch police have launched a manhunt for two men believed to be responsible for a double murder in Khayamandi.

Two people were fatally wounded when the two unknown men approached and entered a shop in Vineyard Street at 22:13 on Tuesday 5 November.

According to Captain Nathalie Martin, spokesperson for Stellenbosch police, one of the suspects was allegedly in possession of a black bag when he approached the first victim, pretending to buy something.

After placing the money through the security gate, the second suspect apparently came closer with a rifle and shot from his right side. The first victim in the store was hit before a second victim was shot through the security gate.

According to the police a third victim, who was working at the back of the shop, was not injured.

“The suspects fled the scene on foot in a southly direction,” Martin added.

She confirmed cases of murder and attempted is being investigated by Stellenbosch police detectives.
