The women’s team of Coronations Cricket Club continued their dominant run this season, racking up two victories in their T20 league matches in Pniël on Sunday (2 March).

The team recorded two 10-wicket victories in their second-round clashes against Caledon CC and Grabouw CC at the Groot Drakenstein Sports Club. The triumphs places the Pniël side firmly at the top of the group, and one step closer to them reaching the final of the Cricket Boland Women’s T20 competition. In the morning match against Caledon CC, Coronations won the toss and chose to field, with the bowlers delivering a dominant performance.

The visitors were eventually all bowled out for 68 runs, thanks to attacking and disciplined bowling by Chantelle van Schoor (2/11) and Doni Lin (1/15).

In their innings, the Coronations opening pair of Delmari Hoffman (28*) and Jolene Hendricks (19*) needed just eight overs to chase down the target, as they led their side to a well-deserved victory.

In the match against Grabouw CC later that afternoon, the Pniël lasses followed the same formula, winning the toss and sending their opposition in to bat. This time though, Danya Laas (3/10) and Maudeen Dampies (2/7) paved the way for the team, as they managed to bowl out the team from the Elgin Valley for 46 runs in 17 overs. On the batting front, Hoffman (33*) and Christine Tomlinson (8*) charged ahead to take their team across the line in just 4.3 overs.

The team will again be in action against Caledon and Grabouw in their final pool matches on Sunday (9 March), with the matches set to be played at the Elgin-Grabouw Country Club
