After a two-year hiatus, the Stellenbosch Wine Harvest Parade will return to the streets of the country’s wine capital on Saturday 9 April.

Halted only briefly by the pandemic regulations, the colourful procession will again see farmers, workers and wine lovers mount creative floats and paint the town red to herald the end of another fruitful wine grape season.

Young and old are invited to join the human train through the streets, with the parade starting from the famous Toy and Miniature Museum at 09:00, weaving its way through the oak-lined streets before arriving at the Stellenbosch Town Hall some 30 minutes later. Stellenbosch Mayor Gesie van Deventer will then award prizes for the best float and the most spirited team.

After a short thanksgiving ceremony, the parade will continue through the streets in celebration of the year’s harvest. At its conclusion participants will be treated to a braai, live music and refreshments, with special entertainment for the young ones too.

The parade will be held with the support of the region’s wineries, the wine-route organisation Wesgro and Stellenbosch Municipality.
