Mild temperatures, leaves turning all sorts of autumn colours and new look routes in the Knorhoek Valley, what better way to celebrate harvest time than by running through beautiful vineyards and single-track on the foothills of Simonsberg with spectacular views of the Winelands and Table Mountain in the distance.
Dirtopia will present the third 2022 event in the Sportsmans Warehouse series on Sunday 13 March at Knorhoek Wine Estate with the Harvest Trail Run near Stellenbosch.
There are two distances to choose from: an 11 km and a 5,5 km that are both circular routes with a refreshment station and lots of Dirtopia hand-built trails; including some new single track on the long route. Walkers are welcome on the short route and all finishers will receive a medal.
Registration starts from 07:00, with the long distance starting at 08:00 and the short distance 08:15. Pre-entries can be done online at www.dirtpass.co.za until Thursday evening, 10 March. Prices start at R140 for the 5,5 km, and R170 for the 11 km, while children under 18 cost R60 for pre-entries. Please note late entries will be at an additional fee.
These routes have a special Dirtopia single track through forest and various other terrain in the Knorhoek Valley. The route design is different from previous events at this venue, to create new memories on amazing trails.
Timing will be done with Amarider Trail Tag, which runners can rent or buy online or on race day. Medals awarded to all finishers with lucky draw prizes including wine, vouchers from Sportsmans Warehouse and Falke socks.
Coffee from early morning and something to eat after the event. Taste the wine harvest from previous vintages in the wine tasting centre where pizzas and charcuterie platters are on offer too. Ultimate Sports Recovery will offer massages at the finish area.
