Paul Roos Gymnasium (PRG) will host the second annual Masithethe! isiXhosa Oratory Competition on Sunday 2 April.
The ground breaking competition – initiated by ENSafrica, proud supporter of PRG Forum – is a platform for learners interested in the art of the spoken word. With many schools participating, the idea is to promote multi-language use in South Africa.
The Masithethe! isiXhosa Oratory Competition encourages learners to speak isiXhosa and is a springboard for them to do so in public.
A total of 87 learners from seven schools across the Cape participated in the first Masithethe! competition at PRG, with teachers from participating schools acting as judges. The final rounds were judged by Dr Simthembile Xeketwana and Dr Zameka Sijadu of Stellenbosch University.
Entries for the competition opened on Tuesday (31 January) and will close on Tuesday 28 February.
