A magical celebration of nature and the imagination awaits theatre lovers in the twilight hours on a mid-summer evening at a Stellenbosch wine farm this December.

A Summer Night’s Dream is an enchanting family-friendly show, which will be staged outdoors in a magnificent natural amphitheatre on the farm. As night falls, a troupe of weird and wonderful characters will gather to create a world of fantasy, bringing the landscape alive with colour and sound.

The hour-long performance features a cast of dancers, musicians, singers, and actors. The event starts on the Werf with a feast.

Ticket options include Spier’s delicious food options, from a braai burger to a picnic spread. As the light of the day moves slowly into darkness guests will join the procession, make their way to the arena and settle down on the lush green lawn.

Art, like food and wine, is best shared, which is why Spier is such an enthusiastic supporter of African artists and their creations. Housing one of the largest contemporary collections in the country, Spier believes art has the power to teach and inspire, encouraging all to engage openly with the world and one another.

A Summer Night’s Dream will be staged on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 December, with the feast on the Werf served at 18:00 and the show starting at 19:30.

Tickets cost R200 (show only), R270 (show and a Farmer Angus burger from Bubbles & Braai) and R500 (show and a sunset Spier picnic). Children over 12 pay R70 and under 12s enter at no cost.
