Visit The Playhouse Theatre in Somerset West for some traditional Christmas fun, joy and magic with a delightful production of Puss in Boots, a traditional Christmas pantomime filled with laughter, singing, dancing, and plenty of audience participation.
Directed by Two Tall Ladies, it offers the perfect family-friendly entertainment for all ages from Saturday 30 November to Saturday 16 December.
In Puss in Boots, the audience will follow the charming tale of Jack the Miller’s son, who, with the help of his witty and clever feline friend, Puss in Boots, the Good Fairy, and a host of other colourful characters, embarks on a heart-warming adventure to defeat the menacing Ogre Grimgrab and win the heart of Princess Esmerelda. The story is laced with classic pantomime ingredients, ensuring a memorable and joyous experience for the entire family.
“We can’t wait to share a stage full of Christmas fun with audiences,” said director Gillian Jones.
In keeping with the rich tradition of British Christmas pantomimes, the show promises an unforgettable experience. Audiences can look forward to classic elements such as a dame played by a man (Queen Wendy, the mother of Princess Esmerelda in this production), ballet, enchanting songs performed by the chorus and principal cast, and, of course, enthusiastic audience participation.
“Come along with the whole family and be prepared to laugh, participate, and sing along,” urged Gretel Schulze-le Roux, the other half of the directing duo. Their creative vision promises to bring a fresh and exciting twist to this beloved classic, making it a must-see event this holiday season.
Shows will be held Thursday to Sunday from Saturday 25 November to Saturday 16 December, with matinée performances at 15:00 and evening shows at 19:00. Tickets, at R130 for adults and R115 for children, can be booked online through Computicket.
