Two Stellenbosch residents struck it big at a local soccer match on Saturday (26 August) when they walked away with altogether R200 000 in cash.
Kiara Herman, a first-year fashion student, and Walter Williams, a staunch Stellenbosch FC fan, were the first winners of the DStv Premiership AmaFanDayz competition, which DStv is running this season. The competition took place before an excited crowd at the Stellenbosch FC and SuperSport United match at Danie Craven stadium last night.
Herman won the women-only segment of the competition, which DStv added in celebration of Women’s Month, which August was.
They were randomly selected with two other participants after signing up for the half-time competition. All four fans failed to convert their penalty kicks against DStv stars Hope Mbhele and Maurice Page.
Herman and Williams clinched their R100 000 winnings in a tie-breaker that saw them kick a ball closest to the centre circle.
Neither of the winners had an active DStv compact subscription or higher, and could not double their winnings to R200 000.
