Die tweede akademiese kwartaal van 2024 was ’n besige tyd vir die leerders van Paul Roos Gimnasium. Van uitblink op die sportveld tot uitstaande optredes in verskeie kultuur-items, het die seuns van dié Stellenbosse skool seker gemaak dat hulle hul skool se naam omhoog hou. Van die prestasies wat die PRG-leeders behaal het, is:

Sewe o.16-rugbyspelers van PRG sal die WP by die Grant Khomo-week by Grey High School in Gqeberha verteenwoordig. Hulle is Tevez Cupido (Grant Khomo), Christiaan le Roux (Grant Khomo), Tiaan Basson (Grant Khomo), Reuben Winter (Grant Khomo XV-tal), Travis Pheiffer (Grant Khomo), Sian van Heerden (Grant Khomo), en Lehan Barnard (Grant Khomo).

The PRG saxophone quartet received a Cum Laude award at the Stellenbosch Eisteddfod on Saturday 25 May. The saxophonists (from left) are Luke Morton, Nico de Wet, Nicholaas Coetzee and Dian Breedt.

The PRG clarinet trio also achieved a Cum Laude award at the Stellenbosch Eisteddfod. The trio comprises (from left) Stephan Holtzhausen, Dries Vermeulen and Reinhard Jerling.

Fietsryers van PRG het Saterdag 25 Mei aan ’n bergfietsren by Spice Route in die Paarl as deel van die Wes-Kaapse skole-bergfietsryliga. Neil van der Vyver het die eerste plek in die Jeug-16-afdeling behaal, gevolg deur Connor Kitching (tweede) en Christiaan Koegelenberg (vierde).

Paul Roos Gymnasium co-presented its third PRG-Konnekt breakfast with Investec at the Protea Hotel Technopark recently. A group of 50 guests from PRG and the greater business network were invited to attend the networking event, where Prof Stan du Plessis of Stellenbosch University delivered the keynote address and well-known PRG and Investec figure Schalk Brits assumed the MC duties. PRG is proud of its partnership with Investec and appreciatiative of the firm’s continued support of PRG Societas, an outreach initiative. Leerders van PRG het aan die Oppie Tong Af-redenaarskompetisie deelgeneem. Lian Winckler (gr. 8) en Dieter de Kock (gr. 10) het in hul onderskeie Afrikaanse afdelings na die nasionale eindronde deurgedring, terwyl Lian en Reuben de Wit (gr. 11) ook na die eindronde van die Engelse-kompetisie – On the Tip of your Tongue – deurgedring het. Reuben is uitgenooi om aan twee afdelings deel te neem. Die eindronde word in Oktober by die Laerskool Rooihuiskraal in Centurion, Gauteng, beslis.

Die sanggroep van Paul Roos Gimnasium het onlangs die enigste Cum Laude-toekenning in hul afdeling by die Stellenbosch-eisteddfod gewen.
