Stellenbosch’s municipal Traffic Services conducted a vehicle checkpoint along the R45 at Maasdorp Street in Franschhoek last Thursday (7 August), which led to the arrest of motorists on the wrong side of the law.
During the operation to inspect vehicle safety and driver fitness, four persons were apprehended and handed over to the Franschhoek police for arrest.
These involved four separate vehicles, two drivers and two passengers all suspected to be in the country illegally and without valid documentation.
