Overall victory in Super League B was not on the cards for Franschhoek RFC as they suffered a 24-46 defeat at the hands of Primrose RFC in the SLB final at City Park in Athlone on Saturday (20 September). The team from the valley gave it their all in the encounter, but fell short as their opponents from Kenilworth just seemed to want it more. Despite the loss, though, a determined Wayne Julies of Franschhoek managed to dot down behind the whitewash in spite of the defensive attentions of Primrose's Ghalied Damon. Although Franschhoek lost in the final, eventually finishing in second place in SLB, they capped off a wonderful season, which finally saw them win promotion to Super League A. In the women's final Brackenfell was too strong for Van der Stel-Evergreens, as the Stellenbosch side bowed the knee with 12-20.
