The Southern Parrot Sanctuary will host the vibrant fundraising Cape Parrot Market at Exotic Animal World on the R44 in Klapmuts from 09:00 to 16:00 this Saturday (12 April).

The exciting community gathering aims to raise essential funds for the sanctuary’s new enclosures, providing a safer and more comfortable space for surrendered and rescued parrots.

For just R30 entry, visitors can enjoy a day of entertainment, shopping, and education, while making a direct impact on the lives of abandoned companion parrots.

Some of the event highlights include live music by talented local artists, market stalls selling unique, handcrafted goods and specialty items, food trucks, and exotic animal talks and demonstrations on parrots and other exotic species by experts.

“The Cape Parrot Market is more than just a market – it’s a movement to bring awareness to the plight of surrendered companion parrots and provide them with the sanctuary they deserve,” said Indigo Hawkins, co-founder of the Southern Parrot Sanctuary.

“Every ticket purchased brings us one step closer to building spacious enclosures for our rescued parrots.”

Statistics reveal that companion parrots are among the most frequently rehomed pets, with many ultimately seeking refuge in sanctuaries.

By attending the event, visitors will play a key role in ensuring a brighter future for these magnificent birds.
