Eleven gymnasts of Fynbos Gymnastics Club represented the Western Cape in the annual National Gymnastics Championships, hosted by Gymnastics South Africa, in Cape Town from Thursday 19 to Sunday 29 September. The Stellenbosch club’s gymnasts excelled, bringing home a total of 14 medals across various levels and age groups, along with three overall placements. These include Zahra Ferreira, placing first in Level 5 u-12, Izandri du Toit achieving second place overall in Level 5 u-12 and Hannah Krynauw, placing second overall in Level 4 u-10. Additionally, the club also had apparatus-medal winners: Ella Krynauw, Mische Comerma, Hannah Krynauw, Izandri du Toit, Zahra Ferreira, and Hannah Griffioen. “This was an incredible experience for Fynbos Gymnastics,” said club founder and coach Simone Philips, “and our gymnasts have made our club and province immensely proud.” Pictured (from left) are some of the club’s provincial representatives, Nika Naude, Zahra Ferreira, Hannah Griffioen, Mische Comerma, Milla le Roux, Eva Baptiste, Hannah Krynauw, Aza-Lea Wentzel, Ella Krynauw.
