Improve your skills and position yourself for better work opportunities.

This is the advice of the Weber’s Valley Winelands Skills Centre in Jamestown, which offers e-learning training opportunities to all interested in improving their computer literacy skills.

Register for a course from the extensive list of training options, which include short courses such as computer skills, soft skills, leadership skills and learner driving licence. Short-learning programmes such as report writing, MS Excel on steroids, project management, basic computer skills, sales, entrepreneurship and leadership are also offered.

Locals looking to sharpen their skills specifically to land a new job can participate in the work-readiness programmes.

This programme includes e-learning basics like MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Google sheets and forms, conflict management, stress management, CV construction, interview preparation, diversity, business ethics and communication skills. Assessments such as workplace assessments, MS Excel assessments and behavioural competencies are included as well as validations through certification of completed courses.

In addition to the e-learning skills there are also programmes that offer a full-year qualification in administration, contact centre, entrepreneurship, information technology, project management, leadership, logistics and retail.

More hands-on skills compliance courses in firefighting, first-aid and occupational health and safety (OHS) are also available.
