Dress up and tackle the Muratie Forest trail for the Halloween Forest Night Run by Dirtopia Trail Centre at Muratie Wine Estate near Stellenbosch this Saturday (29 October).
The event offers two timed or untimed distances: a 5 km (for children and walkers) and a 10 km that will circle a bit further in the enchanted forest.
The Halloween Forest Night Run has been taking place since 2013, with the event allowing runners to experience Muratie’s singletrack in the dark and test the nerves with a workout on contour trails, while dodging the ghosts.
Registration starts at 18:00, with 10 km runners taking off at 19:30 and the shorter distance entrants at 19:45. Runners must wear a headlamp.
Pre-enter online at www.dirtpass.co.za to get a discount, as late entries on event day are more expensive.
There will be live music by MixTape after the run, meals from Murtaie’s farm kitchen, and excellent wine, beers and coffee. A face-painter will be on standby before the run to colour-in the occasion, plus vouchers will be handed to those judged to be wearing the best dressed Halloween costumes. There will be a lucky draw.
