As harvest time in the Cape Winelands comes to an end and March is starting to announce autumn in the vineyards, trail runners will be treated to trails that will be used in the upcoming Absa Cape Epic on Dirtopia single-track this Sunday (10 March).
Presented by Sportsman’s Warehouse, the Harvest Trail Run offers a 6 km and tougher 11 km that will start at 08:00. Dirtopia’s trail team have been working on clearing the routes below the Simonsberg and offer a nature experience in the forest.
A fully stocked water point on both routes will also include fresh grapes, while all finishers will receive a special-event medal and a cold drink. Coffee will be available when registration opens at 07:15 and the restaurant will offer pizzas and cheese boards. Enjoy the morning on the lawns with plenty of space for children to play.
All participants will stand a chance to win Knorhoek wine in the lucky draw, and prizes will also go to the winners in each distance. Spend the day in the winelands to enjoy the beautiful views while tasting local wines.
Enter online at www.dirtpass.co.za to save by Friday morning (8 March), with the 6 km R145 and the 11 km R180. Children pay R60 for pre-entries. Late entries will be accepted on the morning at a higher fee. Live timing by Trail Tag is optional and photographers will capture the memories.
