Heritage Day is celebrated in South Africa annually on 24 September.

On this day, South Africans are encouraged to celebrate their culture and the diversity of their beliefs and traditions. In commemoration of Heritage Day and to celebrate the cultural wealth and diversity of the communities of Stellenbosch, the Stellenbosch Museum is hosting a Heritage Fair at the Village Museum in Ryneveld Street on Tuesday 24 September from 10:00 to 14:00.

The fair will include workshops, exhibitions and performances, including but not limited to the Arabic-Afrikaans writing tradition, Xhosa beadwork, oil painting, Knapping, basic isiXhosa language and, of course, wine tastings. Music performances include a Malayan choir, Khoi music performance and a Boereorkes performance.

Admission costs R100 per adult and R50 per child, payable at the Village Museum’s ticket sales office in Ryneveld Street. The entrance fee includes participation in all the workshops presented on the day. The final programme will be advertised closer to the event.
