Ikaya Primary in Kayamandi won its section (u-11) on Saturday at the Heritage Day Challenge at Hartleyvale in Observatory, Cape Town.
This is its first tournament victory, in its first hockey tournament, since Paul Roos Gymnasium (PRG) started working with the school in May 2016.
The PRG Hockey Golf Day generated enough funds to buy hockey sticks, stick bags, shin pads, balls, gum guards, playing kit, waterbottles and four astro training sessions to prepare for the tournament.
ProTours supplied the transport and WP Hockey the goalkeeper kit. The team is coached by PRG old boy Sima Yolisa.
