Tokora’s masterly crafted XO Potstill Brandy excelled as a Cape Brandy of distinction earning Double Gold at the Intercontinental Spirits Challenge 2023.
The luxurious Tokara XO Potstill Brandy was singled out among the best of the best Cape brandies for its depth of flavour, complexity and unparalleled quality at the African leg of this Intercontinental competition.
Crafted from Stellenbosch chenin blanc grapes, the brandy is double distilled in the age-old cognac tradition and matured in individual French Limousin oak casks for a minimum of 10 and up to 17 years.
The aromas are beautifully complex with notes of caramel, cinnamon and nutmeg amplified by dried fig, apricot and a signature hint of raspberry. Floral aromas flourish with jasmine and orange blossom. Unctuous and complex with great depth of character, the palate delivers rich flavours that are expertly balanced and carried by a silky texture.
“As a result of slow, prolonged barrel ageing in predominantly older Limousin barrels, the aromas and flavours are more concentrated allowing the brandy to develop its distinctive character, fine length and depth of aftertaste,” explains Tokara winemaker Stuart Botha.
Producing a refined brandy of this calibre in the age-old cognac tradition has been the intention of GT and Anne-Marie Ferreira ever since they set out to make world-class wines at Tokara more than two decades ago.
