International violinist and pianist to enchant classical music lovers

Classical music enthusiasts can prepare themselves to be thoroughly entertained by a performance by the international violinist Michal Buczkowski and pianist Andrew Wright at Endler Hall at 19:30 on Saturday 25 February.


Classical music enthusiasts can prepare themselves to be thoroughly entertained by a performance by the international violinist Michal Buczkowski and pianist Andrew Wright at Endler Hall at 19:30 on Saturday 25 February.

The performance forms part of the The Ender Concert Prestige Series.

Buczkowski is a soloist who has performed all over the world, from Bach to contemporary music. He is a laureate of prestigious scholarships from the Belgian government and the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

Wright has performed as soloist with orchestras in the United States, Mexico and the Netherlands and has performed in over a dozen radio and television broadcasts. He has won prizes at many competitions, including at the 2012 Vienna International Piano Competition and the 2011 San Daniele International Piano Meeting, to name a few.

Together they perform a programme of works they recently recorded for the prestigious Austrian Gramophone label. The concert features French-Belgian composers Cesar Franck’s “Mélancolie for violin and piano”, Marcel Dupré’s “Sonata for violin and piano in G minor Op 5”, written in the early 20th century, and Guillaume Lekeu’s “Sonata for piano and violin in G major”. The duo’s recording of the Dupré sonata is a world premiere.

Tickets for the concert are R150 (regular), R110 (pensioners 60 years+) and R50 (students and scholars) and are available through Webtickets and at the door one hour before the concert.
