The success of graduates of the Bergzicht Training Centre was celebrated on Monday (19 May), as they completed their Food Service Assistant qualifications. From uncertain beginnings to confident, capable professionals, the youths are proof of what’s possible when there is investment in skills, potential and perseverance. The initiative forms part of Stellenbosch Municipality’s Mayoral Youth Skills Development Programme – one of many training initiatives that enjoys municipal support. The council-funded programme, aims to upskill youths, open doors of opportunity and combat youth unemployment. It is driven by Bergzicht and the municipality’s Community Development team. “When we invest in our youth, we invest in our future. This is real action, not just promises. We are proud of you and thank you to Bergzicht for their incredible support,” said Executive Mayor Jeremy Fasser. The celebration was also attended by Mayoral Committee members Tamryn Kumm (Youth, Sport and Culture) and Ndipiwe Olayi (Parks and Open Spaces).
