An electrifying sporting event, the News24 Forward Faster Invitational Sevens will be hosted by the Forward Foundation in partnership with the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport (SAS) in Stellenbosch next month.
This two-day extravaganza promises non-stop action and entertainment, bringing together rugby enthusiasts and fans from across South Africa. It will take place at the Markötter Fields Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October.
Visitors can look forward to a high-energy atmosphere as top-tier rugby teams compete in a thrilling sevens tournament that showcases the very best of SA rugby talent. Fans will see the Blitzboks in action as they hope to set a solid platform and foundation ahead of the new international season.
An event of this magnitude is not possible without partners, sponsors and key stakeholders contributing to the successful implementation, explained Le Roux Conradie, managing director of Forward Foundation: “We are immensely proud to present the News24 Forward Faster Invitational Sevens in collaboration with the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport.”
Madelein Venter, customer success manager at Media24, emphasised the significance of this collaboration. “We are thrilled to be the title sponsor of the News24 Forward Faster Invitational Sevens. This tournament embodies the spirit of competition, dedication, and sportsmanship, which we admire and support. We believe we can add value to this series through the audiences we serve. We are excited to witness the unfolding of this inaugural event.”
Neil de Kock, CEO of SAS, shared his excitement at the budding relationship with the Forward Foundation. The former Springbok scrumhalf, who played 250 matches for London-based Saracens after representing the Western Province in 101 first-class matches, believes that through tournaments of this nature, talent can be unearthed and nurtured.
“SAS prides itself as an institution that seeks to improve athletes in a high-performance environment,” said De Kock. “The News24 Forward Faster Invitational Sevens competition creates an ideal opportunity for SAS to come on board and partner with sporting excellence.”
This event is a celebration of athleticism, teamwork and dedication, and collaboration is key to the success or failure of tournaments of this magnitude.
Conradie affirmed the importance of partnerships: “The event is made possible through the generous support of our sponsors and partners.
“Our mission at the Forward Foundation is Moving Forward, Faster by creating opportunities for aspiring athletes to showcase their skills and pursue their dreams. We believe that sports can empower individuals and uplift communities, and this tournament exemplifies that spirit.”
