Stellenbosch University (SU) officially welcomed Lesetja Kganyago, Governor of the South African Reserve Bank, as he was installed at chancellor of the university on Friday 20 June.
Kganyago officially took the position this past January, but now has his official robes which were handed over to him by Dr Nicky Newton-King, chairperson of the SU Council, with the help of SU registrar Dr Ronel Retief.
It was with resounding applause and joyous song from Kganyago’s family, friends and colleagues that he delivered his inaugural address at the Endler Hall at the SU Konservatorium.
Kganyago was unanimously elected to the office on Friday 24 January.
