Cloetesville High School recently launched an initiative aimed at supporting its 2019 matric learners, and possibly setting a future precedent.
“The Cloetesville community is challenged with unemployment, and many of the parents are struggling to make a financial contribution towards their children’s education,” according to the school’s principal, Dorian Meyer.
The initiative, “Support a Matric Child”, invites corporates, local businesses and individuals to contribute to the scholar sponsorship to raise sufficient funds for the learners’ fees.
“This will release the stress and financial burden on these learners and their parents, and allow the learners to focus on their preparation during their final school year and exams,” Meyer said.
“We are thankful to Mediclinic SA for its support, and the school management is positive that with support from the broader Stellenbosch community we can make this a reality, and instil hope in learners’ hearts and encourage them to dream about a better future.”
