On Wednesday 7 October, the Rhenish pool was officially opened. The celebration, appropriately masked and socially distanced, was attended by members of the Rhenish school governing body (past and present), representatives of the Stellenbosch swimming fraternity, Rob Bernadie (Stellenbosch Academy of Sport), a number of the principals of Stellenbosch schools and esteemed donors to this project. The pool represents the development of aquatic sports opportunities for Stellenbosch. At the Opening were the principals Hawkie de Villiers (Stellenbosch Laerskool), André van Staden (Paul Roos), Helmien Slabber (Rhenish Girls’ High) and Henk Weyers (Eikestad Laerskool).
