The award-winning muso Melorie Jane is set to thrill with her new album launch when she performs at Amazink in Khayamandi on Friday 24 May at 19:00. The performance forms part of a series of concerts to launch the new album, “Hold the Stars”, which is a fusion of distinct South African jazz influences, evoking a sense of home, while also traversing the realms of film music and contemporary jazz. Artists featured on “Hold the Stars” includes Melorie Jane on piano and vocals, Ntsikelelo Jack Mcwabe (trumpet), saxophonist Lehlohonolo Ntsoko, Gilbert Sithole (bass) and Thato Tswai (drums). Sean Manley was responsible for the albums sound and mastering. “This album is a culmination of my experiences and engagements with God,” the musician said about her second album, “serving as a source of inspiration for its creation. Through a rich tapestry of depictions, stories and concepts, ‘Hold the Stars’ explores the idea of living in full love and freedom.” Tickets to the show cost R150 and R80 (students), and can be booked online through Quicket.
