Football fever is set to take over Stellenbosch this weekend when Stellenbosch Football Club welcomes Mamelodi Sundowns to town for the highly-anticipated Nedbank Cup semi-final on Sunday afternoon (5 May).
The draw for the last-four clash has thrown up a must-watch match between two sides who have established themselves as the leading teams in South African football this season.
Stellies, who started the week on a 24-match unbeaten streak across all competitions, have already won the Carling Knockout trophy this season and will be looking to add more silverware to their cabinet.
Sundowns, meanwhile, are the reigning DStv Premiership League champions and will look set to retain that crown later this month, but will be nursing their wounds following their recent elimination from the CAF Champions League.
The two sides previously met in the quarter-final of last year’s Nedbank Cup, where Stellies recorded a 2-1 win at Athlone Stadium.
Sunday’s tie is scheduled to kick off at Danie Craven Stadium at 15:00, but the gates open at 12:00. Tickets, at R80 each, can be bought from TicketPro and SPAR outlets nationwide. No tickets will be sold at the venue and a strict no-pass-out rule will be applied during the match.
Free parking is available at the nearby Welgevallen Fields and Coetzenburg Centre. Supporters using public transport or minibus taxis must also report directly to these designated parking zones.
Ticketholders are requested to strictly adhere to the parking arrangements and not park outside the designated free parking zones. Failure to do so may result in further action, including the possibility of wheel clamping, towing and/or the issuing of fines.
Stellenbosch FC thanks the community for its continuous support and called on locals to embrace the occasion.
- The match will be broadcast live on SuperSport PSL (DStv channel 202) and SABC Sport.
