Have you stayed fit for the first six months of the year? Well, keep on going or start all over at the Mid-Year Trail Run on 26 June at Muratie Wine Estate near Stellenbosch.
Dirtopia organised the first Mid-Year Trail Run in 2015 at this historic wine farm and in 2022 it forms part of the Sportsmans Warehouse Trail Running Series. Every month a proper trail run takes place on a wine farm where trails have been opened; some especially for the event.
Muratie is the base for one of the most beautiful trail systems in the Western Cape at the foot of Simonsberg, with singletrack designed and built by well-known Meurant Botha. In partnership with his wife, Arina; the Dirtopia Trail Centre opened in one of Muratie’s historic buildings three years ago, July 2019.
The 7 km route has a wide singletrack on the ABC trail to Gilloolys, the view point where a refreshment station will help you back to the finish. The 12 km route will give you more of a work-out with extra singletrack loops than the short route. Refreshment station at the look-out point that you’ll hit twice. Back to the finish via Ho Chi Mihn trail.
All finishers will receive a medal and stand a chance to win prizes. The routes have the Dirtopia signature singletrack trails, fully stocked refreshment stations with Powerade & fruit plus Coke at the finish line.
Registration starts from 07:45 at Dirtopia Trail Centre and the longest distance starts at 08:45 and the short distance at 09:00. Walkers and children are welcome on the short distance. A coffee station will be open from early morning and grab’n’go meals will be on offer here. Make sure to book breakfast/lunch at Muratie’s Farm Kitchen for sit-down meals.
Pre-entries can be done online at www.dirtpass.co.za until Friday morning 24 June. Prices start at R150 to R180, while kids under 18 cost R60 online. All late entries on the day, will be at an additional fee. You can even order your post run massage online and a breakfast wrap in advance with your entry. Timing is optional and will be done with Amarider Trail Tags.
