Boland College announced the appointment of its new College Council members, who will play a vital role in maintaining the colleges’ high standards of institutional corporate governance.
The college, with its head office in Stellenbosch, is one of the top-performing TVET colleges and has received five consecutive clean audits from the Auditor-General South Africa.
The newly appointed members bring a wealth of corporate governance experience and expertise from various sectors, including academia, business, audit, ICT, finance, human resources, legal, and community development across the private and public sectors. Their collective knowledge and experience will support the college in achieving its strategic objectives while ensuring legal compliance and institutional performance.
Charles Goodwin, principal of Boland College, commended Dr Nobuhle Nkabane, minister of Higher Education and Training, on the council appointments.

Their guidance and expertise will be instrumental in promoting the institution’s mission to deliver accessible quality education and training across the Boland region, focusing on each student’s growth and potential, and equipping them with skills for success.”
The newly appointed council members are:
- Mr Neil Jansen (College Council chairperson and chairperson of the Human Resources Committee);
- Sanele Zondi (College Council vice-chairperson and member of the Finance and Planning and Resources committees);
- Tom Blok (Audit and Risk Committee chairperson and vice-chairperson of the Finance Committee);
- Oupa Galane (Audit and Risk Committee chairperson and vice-chairperson of the Finance Committee);
- Danita Welgemoed (chairperson of the Planning and Resources Committee and member of the Academic Board);
- Aneeka Jacobs (vice-chairperson of the Human Resources Committee and member of the Academic Board);
- Mncedisi Nobala (vice-chairperson of the Planning and Resources Committee);
- Prof Gideon Wolfaardt (donor representative and member of the Academic Board);
- Advocate Mandla Mdludlu (member of the Finance and Audit and Risk committees);
- Dr Mariaan Bester (member of the Academic Board and Human Resources Committee);
- Charles Goodwin (principal and chairperson of the Academic Board);
- Nomalizo Mpati (deputy principal of Academic Services and Academic Board representative);
- Wickus van der Westhuizen (lecturing staff representative);
- Chaundre Seaman (support staff representative);
- Chantelle Vraagom (SRC president); and
- Isa Sangoni (SRC vice-president).
Additionally, the council also welcomed June Williams to the Audit and Risk Committee as the independent external member. She brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Audit and Risk Committee, as being a retired senior manager in the office of the Auditor-General Western Cape.
